Alec Baldwin took even more unrelenting shots at American Airlines last night — mocking his recent cell phone debacle on “Saturday Night Live” … even referring to himself as an “American treasure.”

Among the awesomeness … Alec — pretending to be the pilot of his ill-fated flight — explained why he slammed the lavatory door so loudly during his alleged standoff with a flight attendant … claiming, “Words with Friends” can be “frustrating.”

American Airlines claims Alec Baldwin was “extremely rude to the crew” on a flight out of LAX yesterday — “calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language.”

In the wake of Baldwin’s Twitter attacks on the company, AA has finally released a statement … confirming what TMZ reported yesterday — he was an epic jerk.

AA says, “Since an extremely vocal customer has publicly identified himself as being removed from an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, we have elected to provide the actual facts of the matter as well as the FAA regulations which American, and all airlines, must enforce. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding.”

“When the door is closed for departure and the seat belt light is turned on, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off for taxi-out and take-off.”

“This passenger declined to turn off his cell phone when asked to do so at the appropriate time. The passenger ultimately stood up (with the seat belt light still on for departure) and took his phone into the plane’s lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked.”

“They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language. Given the facts above, the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding.”

Judging the American Idol Judges

As we all know, the American Idol judges can sometimes seem about as reliable as a rickety bridge in an Indiana Jones movie. How do we know who to trust? Thankfully, there’s now a scientific way to prove which judge gives the most accurate analysis. (And we’ll also keep you posted if scientists ever figure out what’s going through Steven Tyler’s head when he picks out his wardrobe each day.) Anyway, statistician Allison Connell Pensky rates the judges using a point system that makes keeping score in a bridge game seem simple by comparison. Extremely long story short (trust us) she assigns points for each comment a judge makes, depending on how favorable it is. Apparently, while some statisticians spend their time fixing the economy, others stay busy counting the numbers of times Randy says the word “”pitchy.”" Then again, both are important, if you ask us. So which judges should you listen to, and which are about as trustworthy as a used car salesman? Drumroll, please! It turns out that all three judges do a pretty good job, but when judging the guys, Randy is the one who’s in touch with the rest of America. And as far as the ladies are concerned, Jennifer Lopez is the most likely to get it right. So where does that leave Steven Tyler? Well, let’s just say that at least Steven Tyler has good hair.
